🌿 Bestbrook’s Labyrinth Journey

💫 A Place for Reflection, Rebuilding, and Resilience

🌀 The Original Labyrinth – ENRICH Program 2015

Setting of to find your inner Zen
The original Labyrinth that was lost the drought

In 2015, Bestbrook partnered with Condamine Alliance through the ENRICH biodiversity program to create a unique eco-tourism feature—three large labyrinths designed for relaxation, education, and wildlife enrichment.

  • 🌱 Native Plants & Stones: Over 1,500 native plants, bird-attracting species, and traditional bush tucker plants like lomandra.

  • 🐦 Wildlife Habitat: Designed to support birds and koalas, complete with gum trees for shade and food.

  • 🛤️ Accessible Design: Wheelchair-friendly paths encouraged inclusivity and mindful walking for all visitors.

  • 🧭 Spiritual Purpose: Designed by Toowoomba’s Peter MacQueen, the labyrinths promoted peaceful reflection and walking meditation.

Sadly, due to the extreme drought of 2019, this original labyrinth park was lost to the elements.

🪨 The Rock Labyrinth – Lockdown 2020

Labyrinth
Rock Labyrinth built Easter 2020

When the world stood still during COVID lockdown, Bestbrook got busy.

  • 🔨 Built over Easter 2020 using rocks from around the farm

  • 🍻 Crafted with care (and a couple of beers) by the team during downtime

  • ☀️ Element-resistant: Designed to last through harsh weather

  • 🧘‍♀️ Zen in the Outback: Visitors can now enjoy walking the new Rock Labyrinth, a place of calm, mindfulness, and rustic beauty

This project turned a quiet, uncertain time into an opportunity for creativity, resilience, and reconnection with nature.

📚 The Vision Behind the Labyrinths

  • 🌏 Eco-Tourism & Education: Aimed to enrich both the environment and the visitor experience

  • 🐾 Habitat Creation: Expanding refuge for native species

  • 🏫 Learning Outdoors: A space for school groups and community events

  • 🧩 Not a Maze: Labyrinths have no dead ends—just a clear, meditative path
